Chemorases of Local and Introduced Mint Ecotypes in the Collection of Moldavien State University

Abstract
In course of our investigation of genus Mentha we analyzed the essential oils of some widly growing species of mint such as Mentha arvensis LM longifolia (L.)Huds, M.spicata L., from Moldova and different geographical regions such as Russia (Far East, Central regin, North Caucasus,), Ucraine, China, Vietnam, Hungary, Canada. The essential oils showed a distinct chemical composition. Some of chemotypes are the traditional sources of menthol, and others are of interest as source of different biological active components such as carvon, linalool, ceto-oxizi.
